Ingenious locking mechanism an innovative solution

Johanson Design AB will be exhibiting their new and elegantly styled folding table ‘Lucy’ at the Fair. The table has been designed by Alexander Lervik, who has collaborated with Johanson Design for many years.
“Folding tables are often rather plain. Lucy, on the other hand, has a smart design and is very attractive when set up,” says Alexander Lervik.

Many of Johanson Design’s customers had been looking for a neat and practical folding table and the assignment was given to Alexander Lervik. He had also been thinking about a leg tensioning  mechanism for a folding table, one that could provide an interesting and innovative detail.
“One of my driving forces is my desire to create something that has not been done before,” he explains.

The actual locking mechanism is quite ingenious; no similar solutions are available on the market. The table legs lock into position both when pulled open or folded back. This is thanks to one part of each leg being held in a fixed position while the other runs in an S-shaped slot. This ingenious innovation contributes to the table’s unique design.

The table top and folding mechanism are made of wood and the legs are made of solid steel to optimize the tensioning effect. This versatile table can be used in a wide variety of environments, from conference rooms and lecture halls to private residences, where it can provide the perfect answer when an extra table is required.
