Keynote speakers at Stockholm Cleantech Venture Day 2009

With only about two weeks left to the event date, the organisers of Stockholm Cleantech Venture Day 2009 are now happy to present the keynote speakers and panelists for the conference.

During the day, sizzling hot topics on cleantech, climate, entrepreneurship and venture capital will be addressed. The speakers with their up-to-date knowledge are a vital part of the Stockholm Cleantech Venture Day 2009 - an event is known for its success in bringing results when it comes to actual investments in new cleantech companies.

Keynote speaker Mr. Ola Alterå - State Secretary of the Swedish Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications
Mr. Ola Alterå's knowledge about factors that open up for growth opportunities in cleantech is well renowned. He will share his experience in identifying business potentials in relation to the new climate deal and also key elements for doing business in emerging economies, the base for our next export industry. Mr. Alterå is responsible for energy, state ownership policy, primary industries and sustainable development.

Keynote speaker Ms. Olivia Lum - CEO of Hyflux International.
Olivia Lum found her success in the water business and is the head of the fast-growing water-treatment company Hyflux, based in Singapore. Today, Hyflux is one of the hottest firms in the Asian water market, and under Lum's leadership it has scored a number of R&D breakthroughs. She will speak about her journey from a small entrepreneur to multinational success. http://www.hyflux.com

Keynote speaker Mr. Lassi Noponen - first investor of Winwind, Finland.
Windwind presented their case at Cleantech Scandinavia's first event in 2007. Since then the company has grown threefold, and has recieved the largest Nordic cleantech venture deal so far; EUR 120 mln from the Masdar Cleantech Fund of Abu Dhabi. This year, Lassi Noponen returns to Stockholm to talk about Winwind's journey from seed to star from an early investor's perspective. http://www.winwind.fi

Keynote speaker Mr. Anders Brännström - President and CEO of Volvo Technology Transfer, Sweden.
Volvo Technology Transfer AB is a private venture capital company that has made the most cleantech investments in Sweden during both 2007 and 2008. VTT is a subsidiary of Volvo Group - a heavy-duty truck and diesel-engine manufacturer with a strong industrial reputation and an extensive global network. VTT actively utilises this network to support the growth of their investments. Mr. Brännström will share his view on the role of industrial venture capital in developing new technologies, and VTT's crisis survival experience. http://www.volvo.com/venturetech

Panel discussions
There is a severe lack of understanding between the three main parties of the cleantech industry: entrepreneurs, investors and policy makers, a fact that create obstacles to the growth of the cleantech industry, and to our necessary transition to a carbon-neutral society.

On the event, internationally leading experts and practitioners will provide insights to bridge these gaps in three moderated panel discussions. The subjects are "Regional development supporting cleantech growth", "From seed to star - What does it take?" and "A New Deal for the Climate - A Very Big Deal for Cleantech".
