Scania, HAVI and McDonald’s collaborate and innovate to reduce CO2 emissions in Supply Chain.

Transport-solutions giant, Scania, logistics specialists, HAVI and the golden arches are teaming up to meet impressive CO2 reductions in McDonald’s supply chain.

The idea is to leverage the knowledge, equipment and expertise of the two logistics companies to innovate solutions resulting in 15 to 40 percent decrease, “for every kilometer driven,” in CO2 emissions. The collaboration aims to have 70% of HAVI’s trucking using alternative fuels and hybrid models by year 2021.

Our work with companies like HAVI and Scania takes a proactive approach to finding and implementing more sustainable supply chain solutions, and contributes to our global supply chain and sustainability strategy." said Chris Yong, Global Logistics Director at McDonald's.

Throughout this process, the parties will be keeping close tabs on the emissions in order to optimize the operations as much as possible. Technological advancements such as tracking and the IoT are making supply chain innovation possible in a real-time, scalable manner.

As planned so far, this collaboration will run within Europe as a pilot and its initial focus and will soon after explore the Asian market. Sustainable development in supply chains can’t always happen internally.
