Everyday Beauty – Konsthantverkarna at Sofiero Palace

The KONSTHANTVERKARNA crafts association was founded in 1951 and has made a name for itself by first-rate, innovative design. In the summer of 2012 (from May 17^th to August 26^th) you will be able to admire the group’s contemporary crafts in the Orangery at Sofiero Palace, once a summer residence of Swedish royalty. Sofiero is situated just north of the town of Helsingborg in southern Sweden. The magnificent elegance of thousands of rhododendrons that are blooming in the gardens has given Sofiero special reputation. In 2010, Sofiero was voted Europe’sBestPark (http://www.sofiero.se/).

Everyday items, exclusive objects and conceptual crafts made from cement, glass, ceramics, metal and textiles designed by 85 Konsthantverkarna’s artists presented in an equally seductive environment makes for the perfect combination.

"We will follow the season and reinforce its color and atmosphere," explains Åsa Lockner, curator at Konsthantverkarna. During the period from May to August, most of the Swedes take a break from the frantic activities and end up resting and recreating, ending the summer with socializing, partying and ultimately returning to everyday life. Bright and warm days make this part of the year the most pleasant and hardly awaited.  

In early summer Konsthantverkarna will dress the room in delicate colors and a lot of jewelry. There will be graduation gifts, glasses and gardening aprons. The introduction to the outdoor season will be accompanied by cake plates and coffee cups, vases for midsummer bouquets and a light jacket. Finally, Konsthantverkarna will present to you the great dishes of glamorous parties, wine glasses, tablecloths and table decorations. It will be a wonderful summer with a focus on the present moment while taking advantage of every single day.
