12 Lagerhaus shops in Japan in 6 months

In October 2013 Lagerhaus opened its first shop outside Sweden when launching its concept on the Japanese market. The establishment in Japan has had a successful start and within six days Lagerhaus now opens two new units in the country. Six months after its launch, the Swedish interior design company now has twelve shops in Japan.

First up, opening Saturday April 19th, was the unit in Maebashi, which is followed by one unit in Fukui Owada on April 25th. The stores will be Lagerhaus 11th and 12th shops in Japan.

- We are very happy that after six months in Japan we already have twelve shops, says Monica Bäckerås, Account Manager at Lagerhaus.

In cooperation with the Japanese retail company Uny, Lagerhaus took the step outside Sweden last fall. Uny is the owner of the department stores APITA with some 100 units in the Nagoya / Osaka area. In selected stores the Swedish interior design company adds an exciting new concept for the Japanese consumer.

A common basis of the cooperation has been the market demand for Scandinavian expressions in unique pattern images and design along with the low prices Lagerhaus offers. Gradually, Lagerhaus has adapted its product line to offer product types that are closer to the Japanese daily life, such as slippers and thermoses. Overall, about 20% of the product range is customized for the Japanese market.
