Bandet VNV Nation donerar sin musik till NotMine

Musiken som spelas i videorna som skickas till köparna av bältena är skriven och inspelad av VNV Nation. Bandet har inte bara valt att låta NotMine använda musiken gratis utan har även publikt gått ut och stöttat projektet.

NotMine are currently running a very inventive crowdfunding campaign that we very much hope you'll participate in. Your donation goes to having a landmine destroyed. You'll also get a rather special belt, stamped with the number of landmines left in the world, minus the one you just had destroyed. Each belt counts down. You also get a personal video that starts on your home address on Google Earth and moves to the landmine's co-ordinates, followed by a short video of your landmine being remotely detonated. We were very flattered when NotMine asked if they could use our song "Illusion" for the videos, as they felt it reflected the spirit of the campaign. Those who don't want a belt and just want to donate can do that too. Some want something to symbolise their participation and some just want to help. Everyone can be involved.

The very first belt was presented to the Crown Prince of Norway recently, and we think it's wonderful that he helped get this campaign started.

For those who want to know the scale of the problem - the UN estimates that landmines kill between 15,000 and 20,000 people every year, mostly children, women and the elderly. The number of those injured by them is countless.

Meanwhile, the campaign to stop countries manufacturing and selling them goes on regardless.
