Brother's acquisition of Domino Printing Sciences

The acquisition of Domino Printing Sciences PLC (DPS) completed on 11th June. Therefore DPS is no longer a public company with shares traded on the London Stock Market, we are now a 100% fully owned subsidiary of Brother Industries Group; based in Nagoya, Japan, and listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

In summary, DPS will remain an autonomous business in Brother, under current leadership and management. DPS brands (Domino, Mectec, Citronix etc) will remain as they are today and we will have the same level of decision making autonomy as today. Our employees’ contracts all remain unchanged and all our locations will stay intact. In other words, little to no change.

Brother are looking at positive synergies to help DPS grow, that is how they expect to get a return on their investment. What that means is using their resources to help us grow and improve, their technology to speed up new product development and their size to improve our buying power and access to what we need to expand faster and reduce cost and complexity in our product range.

What that should mean in the fullness of time for our distributors, is an expanded and more competitive product range with which to compete in local territories and markets. That process has already started; we have had a team of engineers from Japan in Bar Hill since the acquisition, and 2 new product development plans have already been sanctioned.

Mectec Elektronik AB, Domino’s only Business Unit in Sweden, is very positive to the acquisition.
