Nobel Media Commissions Blakeway Productions to Present the 2009 Nobel Highlights and Nobel Peace Prize Documentary
Nobel Media AB, the company responsible for the official Nobel TV programming, has commissioned Blakeway Productions to produce two documentaries: Nobel Highlights 2009, a 1x60' documentary, which profiles all thirteen Nobel Laureates of 2009 and The Nobel Peace Prize Documentary 2009, a 1x30’ documentary portraying the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Barack Obama.
The Nobel Highlights documentary will explore the lives and careers of the 2009 Nobel Laureates awarded a Nobel Prize in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, Peace and the Laureates in Economic Sciences. Featuring interviews with the Nobel Laureates themselves, their friends, family and academic peers, the program will offer a unique insight into these great men and women, as well as revealing the significance of their work which has changed the lives of millions of people. 2009 sees a record five women honored by the Nobel Prizes and Elinor Ostrom, age 76, makes history by being the first woman to receive the Prize in Economic Sciences. The documentary will also feature highlights from the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony which takes place on 10 December 2009 in Stockholm.
The fourth US President to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, Barack Obama, is the subject of this year’s official Nobel Peace Prize Documentary. The film will highlight his career through various interviews with members of the Obama administration, fellow politicians and former co-workers, as well as the chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, and will explore Obama’s achievements leading up to the prize. The program will offer a unique insight into the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate’s approach to foreign policy and the events in his life which have shaped his world view.
