SCANDINAVIAN FASHION TECH DEBUTS IN US AT MoMA DESIGN STORE

Stockholm — Swedish fashion tech startup Pins Collective sees the US debut of their Pin One expressive wearable at MoMA Design Store. The Pin One is featured as part of the Spring/Summer 2018 catalogue collection.

Designed in Stockholm and available in the U.S. exclusively from MoMA Design Store online and in New York City through June 2018, the Pin One is a fashion-forward wearable device that puts creativity and style first, capable of displaying a variety of visual content, including digital art, GIFs, logos and more.

“We’re incredibly proud to have the Pin One listed at MoMa Design Store,” noted Olof Sjöstedt, CEO of Pins Collective. “As an artist-first hardware platform, working with a retailer so closely connected with design and contemporary art was a natural fit.”

Through a simple app and Bluetooth® connectivity, Pin One customers are able to upload their favorite content through the app, and can attenuate and coordinate their pin displays with their personal style.

“Our products are designed first and foremost for organic, expressive experiences that accent your outfit,” explains Sjöstedt. “The goal is a subtle, nuanced accessory that captures your attention without being perceived as a ‘wearable smartphone’. Pin One is more than a tech product—it's a platform for creatives, brands, and their fans to engage with one another in a dynamic way.”

Emmanuel Plat, director of merchandising at MoMA Retail, concurs, “The Pin One is a fantastic addition to our wearables collection, as well as a technological leap forward in promoting creativity. As the exclusive retailer in the US, we’re very excited to be a part of this new intersection between fashion-as-design and technology.”

What’s next for this innovative Nordic company? Sjöstedt and his team are creating an in-app platform that connects creators, fashionistas, and art fanatics worldwide.

“Imagine a digital artist in Brooklyn finding out—in real time—that his fans are wearing his art in Tokyo, Glasgow, or Caracas,” says Sjöstedt. “We’re trying to empower digital artists and their audiences by helping push new multimedia formats into places that feel natural and unobstrusive.”

Available exclusively from MoMA Design Store in black matte, the Pins Collective works right out of the box.
