Caliente expands Playtech partnership into Retail

This week Playtech announced that Playtech BGT Sports (“PBS”), the leading supplier of omni-channel sports betting technology, has partnered with Corporación Caliente (“Caliente”), Mexico’s leading gaming operator, to roll out its Self-Service Betting Terminals (SSBTs) in a number of Caliente casinos across Mexico.

The agreement strengthens the existing relationship between Playtech and Caliente which was first established in 2014 through the launch of a combined Online Casino offering.

The SSBTs are being added to more than a dozen Caliente casinos across various provinces in Mexico, representing an expansion of Playtech and Caliente’s relationship into both Online and Retail. Further roll-outs across other Caliente casinos are planned in the coming months.

Armin Sageder, CEO, Playtech BGT Sports, said: “Our partnership with Caliente has gone from strength to strength and we continue to experience significant growth. The extension of our relationship into Retail reflects the success we have achieved to date and the opportunities we both see lying ahead.”

“Mexico is a fast-growing, regulated market and a strategically important territory for Playtech.”

Victor De La Fuente, Business Development Director at Caliente, added: “This is an exciting moment for Caliente as we further develop the experience we offer those who visit our casinos. We are continually looking for ways to improve customer engagement and this represents the latest development as part of this strategy.”

In 2017, alongside other milestones, PBS signed a three-year agreement with OPAP, the leading Greek betting and lottery operator, and launched SSBTs with customers in Malta, Romania, Spain, Czech Republic, Austria and Germany.

Latin America and Europe are key focus areas for PBS. In the past 12 months the company has increased its bet entry points in Retail by 48% with now almost 40,000 tills and terminals live globally.
