Under JASE-expeditionen utvecklades en ny method för att mäta snökorns storlek, form och förekomst. JASE was a Japanese-Swedish Antarctic research expedition in 2007/08. The main focus was the development of the inland ice sheet connected to the recent climate change. Many different types of data were collected: aerosols and surface snow sampling, snow radar and depth soundings and ice cores.

2010-06-11 14:44 The first data from the Japanese-Swedish glaciological traverse JASE in 2007/08 is presented at the International Polar Year Oslo Science Conference. The team studied an area where previous drilled ice cores have been taken. The Antarctic ice sheet is the largest inland ice on Earth and its development is one of the most important factors for issues like climate change and sea level rise.
