2012-04-24 20:50 Magnus Tannerfeldt, research director at the governmental agency Swedish Polar Research Secretariat, has been elected chair of the Forum of Arctic Research Operators (FARO), a cooperative organization on logistic issues in Arctic research. FARO held its annual meeting as one of many side events to the ongoing international polar conference From Knowledge to Action, in Montreal.

2011-10-14 08:53 Nästa vecka reser deltagare i SWEDARP 2011/12, det svenska Antarktisforskningsprogrammet, till Christchurch, Nya Zeeland, och därifrån vidare till den amerikanska forskningsstationen McMurdo i Antarktis. Två forskargrupper, som leds av Lars Holmer från Uppsala universitet och Michael Axelsson från Göteborgs universitet, kommer att vara i Antarktis fram till 30 november.

The Fellowship, worth up to US$15,000, will allow Ms. Marks to work with the Italian Antarctic Program to participate in Antarctic research at Dome C and Mario Zuchelli Station.

2010-11-19 12:27 De svenska och finska forskningsstationerna i Dronning Maud Land på Antarktis, Wasa och Aboa, ligger bara 200 meter från varandra. Länderna samarbetar inom logistik, forskning och läkarvård. Aboa byggdes 1988/89. Stationen ligger på 73°03'S, 13°25'V, 130 km från kusten. Forskningsstationen kan inkvartera upp till 18 personer, och är endast bemannad under den antarktiska sommaren.
