Project Playground Participates in Youth & Music Project

Together with Swedish music school Musikmakarna, with founder Ulla Sjöström as initiative taker, and the music publisher Active Music from Cape Town, Project Playground is part of an exciting project supported by the Swedish Arts Council. The project aims to unite youth from Sweden and South Africa within music creation and production, develop the cultural relationship between the two countries as well as discuss and strengthen human rights such as gender equality, democracy and freedom of speech.

The vision with the project is a long-term relationship between the participants, and Project Playground is happy to, as the only NPO involved, offer our children a chance to explore the music industry both locally and internationally as well as making new friends for life.

In August, a group of youth from Project Playground and Active Music visited Musikmakarna in Stockholm and Örnsköldsvik for a week of co-writing, discussions and workshops – a very successful start of the initiative. Project Playground is looking forward to the next step of the project, Musikmakarna visiting South Africa and Langa!
