Qamcom targets central European market with new Budapest subsidiary

Qamcom Research & Technology (QRT), the technology application experts, are moving into the Central European market with the opening of an office in Budapest, Hungary. The office will be operational from early January 2019 and will be led by Géza Fülöp, PhD.

Budapest has a population of almost two million people. It has strong growth potential with excellent universities, a well-developed IT industry and easy transport access to the entire Central European region. Its large car industry and technical infrastructure make it an ideal location for Qamcom to build upon its existing model of consultancy and full development projects for clients across a range of verticals and technologies.

Qamcom offers unique expertise and fully-managed, project-based consultancy. Key areas of interest include research and development in the fields of telecoms, sensors and artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on innovation around self-driving vehicles and automated transportation.

The Budapest office will be managed by Géza Fülöp, a veteran of technology, engineering and international development having spent more than a decade at Ericsson, helping them build their Budapest operation in 2004. He holds a PhD degree in theoretical physics and has worked for a number of diverse organizations around the world from disruptive start-ups to multinationals. A mother-tongue Hungarian speaker who has spent much of the last four years in Budapest working on local projects and researching the Central European market, Géza is ideally placed to drive this initiative forward.

The goal is to form a local company working with the same professionalism and quality as Qamcom’s other sites, with a similar competence profile and level of service. Within two years the target is to reach twenty employees.

“For us, quality is more important than expansion rate,” said Géza. “We want to find highly-skilled engineers - ideally with research backgrounds - who will truly add value for our customers in the region. With over 100 staff in the Nordics providing expertise and support, Qamcom is well placed to grow quickly in this new market and bring world-leading technical innovation and consultancy to international businesses in Central Europe.”
