Press release -

QuizRR & ETI to develop a digital training solution to combat the issue of involuntary work

An estimated 24.9 million men, women, and children across the global are in some form of forced labour, according to the International Labour Organization (ILO). Modern slavery, or involuntary work, can range from debt bondage to the worst forms of child labour and can be found in any part of the supply chain and in any country. QuizRR is working in collaboration with the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) to develop a digital training solution to help factories understand and combat the issue of involuntary work.

Most of the cases of involuntary labour are in Asia with the highest risk being in the lower tiers of the supply chain where there is often little or no visibility. The QuizRR/ETI partnership aims to create awareness around and reduce instances of involuntary work and promote ethical recruitment practices in supply chains through the use of innovative and engaging digital technology.

In joining forces with QuizRR, our members and their suppliers will be able to better understand the risks of involuntary work as well as find ways to prevent and address the issue. We see a need for an easily accessible and digital tool that can not only be used to initially provide the information, but is available to refresh knowledge long term” says Yun Gao, ETI's Regional Director of Southeast and East Asia.

With ETI's expertise and resources on identifying and preventing involuntary labour, QuizRR is committed to creating a fun, measurable, and transparent training platform for management at all levels as a first step with the ambition to later adapt for workers and scale for use in many diverse contexts.

QuizRR trainings are already in use in 242 factories in Bangladesh and China. Our users, both managers and workers, find that the trainings are not only fun, but have resulted in better dialogue and engagement in the workplace” says Sofie Nordström, deputy CEO and co-founder of QuizRR.

The pilot training will launch in December 2018 in a number of factories in China.
