Introducing Rabén & Sjögren’s apps

Rabén & Sjögren, Sweden’s leading publisher of children’s books, announce the migration of a selection from their picture and storytelling portfolio into the digital world. Starting September 2011, a series of new apps will be rolled out for both smartphones and tablets.

This marks Rabén & Sjögren’s decisive entry into the digital arena. Four new series of apps are being launched: board books, picture books, memory games and short films. These apps will be available for three smartphone platforms – iOS (iPhone, iPod and iPhone), Android, and Symbian (Nokia).

— We want to provide valid alternatives to the games and flashy apps currently available on the market. Our apps are based on what we do best: conveying and presenting images and stories created by our authors, says Ann Sköld Nilsson,Publishing Director at Rabén & Sjögren.

— Producing apps that are high-quality is a key imperative. All images and audio recordings have been meticulously planned and customized for mobile phones and tablets. The launch of these apps is the successful outcome of a significant investment, says Klas Fjärstedt, Director of Digital Media at Norstedts Publishing Group.

—I can’t wait to be able to load the apps onto my mobile phone so I can finally show all my friends just how much sound enhances and complements the images! And they’ll be so happy when it’s their turn to show their children, says Pernilla Stalfelt, author of the ABC-book “Från apglad till öronvax” and the memory app “Färgerna”, based on her popular picture book of the same name.

• In 2011 there were approximately 2 million smartphones in Sweden.
• Rabén & Sjögren’s apps will launch successively during autumn 2011, starting in September.
• The apps are suitable for children aged 1-7 years.
