SAS a Leader in Gartner's 2015 Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms Magic Quadrant

Company also named a Leader in research firm’s 2015 Advanced Analytics Platforms report a week earlier

SAS was placed in the Leaders quadrant of the Gartner 2015 Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platformsreport.1 Within the Leaders quadrant, SAS was placed furthest along its completeness of vision axis.

SAS’ purpose-built analytics applications combine deep knowledge of business-specific issues with powerful SAS®Analytics. SAS’ large and growing portfolio addresses the needs of financial institutions, retailers, government agencies, manufacturers, energy companies, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, telcos, hotels and more.

“SAS BI and analytics are used by a wide variety of organizations in a range of industries,” said SAS Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Jim Davis. “To have enterprises deploy our software in a spectrum of applications around the globe is the best validation of SAS. The 2015 Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms focuses on visualization, reporting and analytics that are descriptive and diagnostic in nature, particularly targeting business analysts. SAS Visual Analytics was evaluated for this research.

Advanced analytics leadership

SAS was also named a leader last week in the 2015 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Advanced Analytics Platforms, which addresses a different market segment including predictive and prescriptive analytics used by statisticians, data scientists, modelers and other analytics-intensive professionals.2

“SAS has the widest advanced analytics portfolio in the industry offering a spectrum of capabilities, many of them designed for specific personas such as forecasting and text mining,” said Davis.

Gartner defines advanced analytics as "the analysis of all kinds of data using sophisticated quantitative methods (for example, statistics, descriptive and predictive data mining, simulation and optimization) to produce insights that traditional approaches to business intelligence (BI) – such as query and reporting – are unlikely to discover."
