The Guides and Scouts of Sweden launch “Scout View” to capture favorite trails on Google Street View
The Guides and Scouts of Sweden have initiated a project with the goal to make Swedish nature accessible to anyone, anywhere, through Google Street View. Starting this fall, the scouts – true experts on nature – will bring along 360°-cameras from Google on their hikes to document hidden gems in Sweden: favorite trails, camp sites and other spots. The images will be uploaded to Google Maps using the Street View app.
Based on the value “the world is for everyone” the objective is to make Swedish nature accessible to more people around the world using a combination of Google’s technology and platform, and the scouts knowledge of outdoor life and nature.
- We’re thrilled about Scout View. Local scout teams from all over the country have already started, and will keep contributing to Street View with their favorite hikes and spots. We want everyone to be able to experience Sweden’s true hidden gems and our beautiful nature, says Caroline Thunved, Director Marketing and Communications, The Guides and Scouts of Sweden.
A team from Google Street View have instructed the participating scouts on how the camera equipment works, and on how to upload images to Google Maps.The operation is managed by the scouts and will continuously be updated through the seasons as new trails are captured with 360°-cameras.
