Shifo gets SEK 500k first injection of core funding!

Shifo receives SEK 500,000 as a first injection of core funding. Our first angel invests in a team dedicated to improve global health and reduce child mortality by improving health services delivery, structure and planning in low resource settings. He only asks for one thing in return - high and measurable social return on investment.

Our first angel investor wishes to keep a low profile but looks forward to welcoming on board other investors. The fact that Shifo is developing disruptive technology to increase transparency in donations is a major motive for his SEK 500,000 philanthropic injection, but equally important is his belief in the importance of strengthening vaccination and other preventive care to improve health and reduce poverty. He emphasises “Listening to global health experts like Hans Rosling confirms this belief.”

This “no private ROI investment” is a first. He has previously invested in new companies helping these ventures start up. Like many others he gives donations to a reputable organisation on a monthly basis. But with an investor’s mind he has begun to feel a bit uneasy as it is difficult to follow the money and understand how much of the donation goes to the cause.

He decided to provide Shifo with core funding and hopes that it will encourage other philanthropists to come on board. He explains that Shifo provides a unique opportunity to make extensive impact. “It goes without saying that I expect high and measurable social return on my investment so that we can make real impact and improve child health on a large scale.”

Shifo wants to create a global movement by engaging healthcare professionals, companies, philanthropists and NGOs, as well as private individuals to join hands in improving child health in underserved areas, on a large scale. Collaboration is key to achieving the goal of universal access to lifesaving child and maternal health services This first philanthropic investment helps leapfrog the development of the Shifo community and organisation. “We are so happy to have brought our first angel investor on board. We look forward to others joining this group of individuals seeking clarity in donations and maximising the social return on their philanthropic investment” says Rustam Nabiev, Director of Shifo.

Shifo’s 100% model provides transparency in donations, and commits 100% of private donations to the cause making individual donations feel more valuable. Angel investors provide the platform for growing the community by supporting Shifo with core funding.

Our angel also reasons that Sweden is at the forefront of development within ICT and healthcare and that this is a field where we can make a significant contribution in terms of improving livelihoods in low-resource settings. “I was very impressed by what has already been achieved and all the hard work that has been carried out on a voluntary basis by this dedicated and experienced group of individuals. As an investor I always look at the team which is a make it or break it factor.“
