The Swedish Sea Rescue Society is recruiting with advertisement

The Swedish Sea Rescue Society is growing in leaps and bounds. In recent years, we have had more missions than ever before, have started several new stations and welcomed thousands of new members. But none of this could have been possible without our 2 100 volunteer sea rescuers - and now we need more. A new advertising campaign will hopefully get more people to apply for the world's most important extra job.

"With our latest campaign, we want to highlight the incredible work our volunteer sea rescuers do, without pay. We want to lift the non-profit commitment as a whole, and the enormous social benefits and contributions of the volunteers around the country" says Emma Valham, communications manager at the Swedish Sea Rescue Society.

Today, there are many employers who let their employees leave the workplace to perform voluntary rescue efforts. The Swedish Sea Rescue Society´s volunteer sea rescuers in turn enrich their workplaces with expertise in first aid, CPR, navigation, firefighting and team building. Voluntary commitment is increasingly becoming a sought-after competence in the labor market.

"We're going against the current! When the rest of society is being urbanized and small-scale businesses are decreasing, then we do the opposite. We are starting more stations in rural areas, building new sea rescue boats, and training sea rescuers to create a safer Sweden. It's a job for the future”, says Rolf Westerström, CEO of the Swedish Sea Rescue Society.
