Internationella frågor i fokus under Världens fest

Över 2000 är anmälda till Världens fest i Karlstad 30/5-1/6 när Svenska kyrkan bjuder in för att diskutera och skapa engagemang kring internationella frågor. Under helgen hålls bland annat seminarier och workshops. En mängd internationella gäster deltar för att bland annat diskutera klimatfrågan, förföljelse på grund av tro och fredsfrågor.

Att vara ung och kristen i dagens Mellanöstern

In the midst of the upheaval in the Middle East the WSCF (World Student Christian Federation), has an important task to gather youth and young adults on the basis of their Christian faith to discuss important and current issues: Christian- Muslim dialogue and mutual understanding, issues of gender equality and gender in society and in the churches. This is becoming increasingly important in a society characterized by Shari'a. Elsy Wakil talks about the current situation for young people in the Middle East.

Om att vara kristen kvinna i Pakistan

It's hard to be a woman in Pakistan, and even harder to be a Christian woman. Is it possible to change and how? Domestic violence and forced marriage is common. Church of Pakistanis working on the issue. Here we listen to the Church's experience of working to change the conditions of women both through work with men and with women in vulnerable situations. We also talk about the male role, both in Sweden and Pakistan. 

With Rubina Suleman, midwife and health teachers who work with women's issues on Raiwindstiftet in Lahore och Archbishop Anders Wejryd who visited Church of Pakistan in February. 

Är det möjligt att utrota fattigdomen?

At the millennium, the world agreed on the Millennium Development Goals, of halving poverty and hunger. We now see negotiations within the UN on a new development agenda that should apply to all countries. Will the world be able to set goals for eradicating extreme poverty before 2030? This  seminar is about the roles of the various actors. What dilemmas do we face? What are the sacrifices people in Sweden have to do? Where are the political divisions and where do we need space for dialogue?

The complexity of Christian-Muslim relations in Africa

With different religions, we live side by side. In other contexts, there is conflict and religion is exploited for the other means. What about Christian witness and should Muslims be allowed to witness about their faith? PROCMURA, the Programme for Christian Muslim Relations in Africa has been working with these issues in different parts of Africa since 1958. Procmura lead us in a seminar on the witness of Christianity and Islam; to live together and build a good society with peace and respect for all.

Varför flyr Eritreas befolkning?

Eritrea är idag mycket isolerat och landet är mest känt i väst för brott mot mänskliga rättigheter samt mängden av människor som desperat söker sig därifrån. Detta seminarium berör påtvingad migration där vi vill göra ett försök att svara på en av grundfrågorna: Varför flyr Eritreas befolkning?

Världens fest är ett gemensamt möte för hela Svenska kyrkan med det internationella arbetet i fokus. Det är en plats för inspiration, utmaningar och fördjupning för alla intresserade. 2000 personer är anmälda till Världens fest.
