Gothenburg Games is looking for the next Swedish e-sport star

The search for Sweden's next big e-sports star is on. Gothenburg Games Esport Challenge kicks off Sunday, May 31. The tournament is open to everyone regardless of experience level, gender or age. The final will be played live at the first Swedish game festival Gothenburg Games.

- Thanks to the partnership with Gothenburg Games, swedish esport gaming culture can continue to move forward, says Daniel "pani" Aicardi, E-sports manager at Lemondogs, co-organizer of the gaming festival. Supporting tomorrow's stars is something that has always been close to our heart and with this tournament the possibilty to participate is open to all, without any requirements on previous experience or skill levels. Hopefully, teams that previously felt they never had the opportunity to participate, will.

Gothenburg Games is a gaming festival covering all the trends in the gaming world, from role-playing to e-sports. The event is a venue to try, ask, show, learn, excel and admire - a forum to celebrate and stimulate the Swedish gaming culture, with Gothenburg as its base.

- The Swedish game industry is what the Swedish music industry was in the 90s, recognized as highly skilled in a global multi-billion dollar industry, says Beatrice de Maré Peterson, Business Manager for Gothenburg Games at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre. This concerns both the Swedish industry and research institutions and therefore Gothenburg Games also focuses on knowledge and business with seminars and master classes. Those who have business ideas and game prototypes will be able to meet international financiers.

The winning team will be coached by ex-pro Marcus 'Delpan' Larsson. Speaking of his participation, he says:

- I think it's fun to be a part of this, and to be able to share my experiences, but also to meet the stars of tomorrow and hopefully be able to guide them with some tips and tricks to make it to the top. To go on a LAN event is among the best things there is and the fact that the tournament also covers the expenses of the teams, is a major plus and makes it possible for virtually everyone to participate, which will be enormous fun to follow.
