The press release with name and presentation of the laureate will be sent out immediately after the event, approximately at 13.00 Swedish time.

About the event:

The laureate of The New Academy Prize in Literature 2018 is chosen after a long process, consisting of three stages. First, librarians in Sweden were invited to nominate authors for the prize. After that, people from all over the world were asked to vote for their favourite authors. There were more than 32,000 votes, many of which came from librarians worldwide. The two female and the two male authors with the most votes then went before an expert jury, who have decided on the winner. Haruki Murakami, one of the finalists, has withdrawn his nomination due to time pressure.

Time and place: The Rotunda, Stockholm Public Library
on 12th October at 12 (noon).
Participants include several members of The New Academy as well as knowledgeable librarians, who can guide you through what to read and tell you all about the winner and the other finalists.
