Tiger of Sweden wraps up fashion week with tailored attitude

As tradition goes, Tiger of Sweden wrapped up the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week yesterday with the biggest show of the week. The crowded pavilion was treated to a spring and summer collection where rebellious expression meets a muted colour palette and contemporary cut.

– Our SS14 collection is all about attitude, about being more daring and taking a stand. It is a little edgier than what we usually show, but in a way that is still characteristically Tiger of Sweden, says Tine Grandahl, who co-designs the women’s collection with Shena Neville.

The spring/summer collection 2014 focuses on the balance between an edgy look with a lot of attitude and a sublime, Scandinavian silhouette. On the catwalk, this modern collection showcased a clash between anti-fit silhouettes and traditional tailored garments across the board. Colourwise, the spring collection builds on a palette of soft pastel tones like dusty pink, purple and blue on a foundation of black, white and grey.

Structured and patterned surfaces are the focus of the spring men’s collection, in which classic garments such as the overcoat and the two-piece suit are given a contemporary twist. Key pieces include the nylon bomber jacket and the oversized coat as well as the “Irvine” jacket in a unique tartan fabric exclusively designed for Tiger of Sweden. A limited edition of the jacket will be hitting the market in spring 2014.

The women’s collection is based on a predominantly lean silhouette juxtaposed with oversized, boxy garments. Details such as heavy zippers and leather meet a pattern play of leopard, checks and stripes. Key garments include the pleated skirt, the softly tailored suit and outerwear with a raw, tailored vibe.
