Academy Award Winner SPOTLIGHT coming to Blu-ray™ & DVD July 25th

Stockholm, July 19, 2016– Sony Pictures Home Entertainment invites viewers to take home the Academy Award®-winning dramatic thriller SPOTLIGHT on Blu-ray & DVD on July 25th . This gripping and suspenseful film from director Tom McCarthy (Up, Million Dollar Arm) tells the true story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning team of investigative journalists who exposed a massive scandal and cover-up perpetrated by one of the world’s most powerful institutions. Winner of the 2016 Academy Awards® for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay, the film also took home three Golden Globe Awards, including Best Picture (Drama) and the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast. The all-star ensemble includes Mark Ruffalo (The Avengers, Foxcatcher), Michael Keaton (Birdman, Batman), Rachel McAdams (Midnight in Paris, The Notebook), Liev Schreiber (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Salt), John Slattery (TV’s “Mad Men,” Iron Man 2) and Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games series, The Devil Wears Prada).

Synopsis: SPOTLIGHT tells the riveting true story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Boston Globe investigation that would rock the city and cause a crisis in one of the world's oldest and most trusted institutions. When the newspaper's tenacious "Spotlight" team of reporters delves into allegations of abuse in the Catholic Church, their year-long investigation uncovers a decades-long cover-up at the highest levels of Boston's religious, legal, and government establishments, touching off a wave of revelations around the world. Directed by Academy Award®-nominee Tom McCarthy (Best Original Screenplay, Up, 2010), SPOTLIGHT is a tense investigative dramatic-thriller, tracing the steps to one of the biggest cover-ups in modern times.

SPOTLIGHT was written by Josh Singer (The Fifth Estate, TV’s “The West Wing”) and Tom McCarthy. It was produced by Michael Sugar (TV’s “The Knick,” The Fifth Estate), Steve Golin (The Revenant, TV’s “True Detective”), Nicole Rocklin (The Perfect Guy, Middle of Nowhere) and Blye Pagon Faust (TV’s “The Queen Latifah Show”).
