The hunt for love begins on Blu-ray & DVD January 16

Stockholm, January 12, 2017 – Sony Pictures Home Entertainment invites viewers to a futuristic world where finding a partner is a matter of life and death in the offbeat, darkly comic romantic thriller THE LOBSTER, available on Blu-ray & DVD January 16. Directed by visionary filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos (Alps, Dogtooth), this wholly unique and unconventional love story stars Colin Farrell (Total Recall, In Bruges) and Academy Award® nominee Rachel Weisz (Best Supporting Actress, The Constant Gardener, 2006) as two individuals living in a dystopian future where single people, according to the laws of The City, are taken to The Hotel, where they must find a romantic partner in forty-five days or be transformed into animals and sent to live in The Woods. Featuring an all-star international supporting cast that includes John C. Reilly (Guardians of the Galaxy, Chicago), Léa Seydoux (Spectre, The Grand Budapest Hotel) and Ben Whishaw (The Danish Girl, Spectre), THE LOBSTER took home the coveted Jury Prize at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and has been nominated for the 2016 BAFTA Award for Best British Film and the 2015 European Film Award for Best European Film.

Synopsis: THE LOBSTER is set in a dystopian near future where single people, according to the rules of the town, are arrested and transferred to the Hotel. There they are obliged to find a matching mate in 45 days. If they fail, they are transformed into an animal of their choosing and released into the woods. A desperate man escapes from the Hotel to the woods where the Loners live and there he falls in love, although it's against their rules. Colin Farrell’s character’s animal of choice is a lobster.
