2011-05-11 12:15 A research team has found a marker in the blood that clearly shows whether the patient has an infection caused by bacteria. The discovery creates the conditions for a quick and reliable diagnostic test that distinguishes a bacterial infection from a virus infection. One benefit can be reduced unnecessary use of antibiotics.
