Verified new provider

Following 15 months of innumerable attacks in media and an official investigation regarding use of language testing in the asylum procedure, the Swedish Migration Agency chose to terminate the contract with the provider of language tests before the full term.

A new procurement, with different criteria, now accommodating rooms for improvements identified and reported in the investigation by former president of the Swedish Supreme Administrative Court as well as head of the National Police Board Sten Heckscher is now concluded (read the report, abstract in English).

The tender of the former supplier SPRAKAB was not successful and the contract was instead awarded to rival tenderer Verified.

The Swedish Migration Agency will enjoy a fresh start with language testing during a time when the pressure on the asylum system is at an historical high. The timing of this focus on quality is brave, but this change should be expected to serve the migration agency, the courts, the asylum claimants and hence the country of Sweden, equally well.
