Wittra Sweden AB nominated for prestigious innovation prize

Wittra and CEO Håkan Dackefjord is one out of three nominees for the 10th anniversary of the prestigious Swedish innovation prize. The prize is hosted by Veckans Affärer, a Swedish Business newspaper, in collaboration with Swedish Standards Institute and Swedish Incubators & Science Parks.

Wittra provides a unique positioning solution solving positioning for low power, narrowband, sub-GHz radio signals. It has previously been accepted within the field that due to low power and limited bandwidth, the accuracy for time measurement of such signals makes positioning difficult or even impossible. That was before Wittra. Through implementing the unique solutions developed by Wittra it is now possible. The results provide kilometers of range, down to one meter accuracy, at very low power consumption.

During the third quarter of 2016 Wittra conducted successful field tests of their new product in harsh environments for radio signals. The field tests have been conducted in collaboration with pilot customers and includes positioning in a pressing plant, within the hull of a steel ship, and positioning in concrete basement/underground.

We are excited that our pilot customers selected Wittra for their applications. Many of them have tried tens of other solutions that just didn’t work in real environments. We have heard so many developers and engineers stating that what Wittra does is not possible. But still, here we are with a great system!”, says CEO and founder Håkan Dackefjord. “Therefore we are happy to see that our inventive solution meets the tough requirements”, Håkan continues, “and that our solution still has a competitive cost in regular indoor- and outdoor environments.”

The Swedish innovation prize aims to promote Swedish innovations that enhance Sweden’s position on the international market. The prize is awarded to the best innovators in the country that have reached a commercial breakthrough. Previous nominees are for example Spotify and Tobii.
