The first edition of World Classic Tour kicks off with Blink Classics in two weeks!

World Classic Tour, what is it?

It is the unique summer rollerski series gathering Blink Classics (NOR), Alliansloppet (SWE) and Olaf Skoglunds MinnelØp (NOR) in a long distance classic series. An overall ranking will be implement for both women and men rewarding the best athletes in different categorys. Distinctive bibs will be worn by the champion leader (yellow bib), sprint leader (green bib), youth leader (U25 - pink bib) and finally junior leader (U20 - blue bib).

Exceptionally for the first stage of World Classic Tour, the distinctive bibs will be distributed to the category leaders of the last season’s Visma Ski Classic series. Petter Eliassen and Britta Johansson Norgren will have the honour to wear the yellow bib of World Classic Tour Champion. Andreas Nygaard will wear the Green Jersey of WCT sprint. The Youth bib will be worn by Stian Hoelgaard. For the futures editions the distinctive bibs will be distributed to the winners of the previous World Classic Tour edition.

Awards

For this first edition a total of 25 000 euros of prize money will be distributed to the overall best-ranked athletes in different categories! Both woman’s and man’s World Classic Tour Champion will received 20% of the total prize money.

The best team consisting of the two best male athletes and the best female athlete on the different stage will also be rewarded by 20% of the total prize money.

Be ready for a spectacular fight during the 3 different stages! The races will be animated by several intermediate sprints, which will allocate points to the sprint ranking. Both female and male leader of the sprint ranking will be rewarded by 4% of the total prize money. Moreover, the athlete the most combative or having exemplar behaviour during the race will be awarded with the special price “Athlete of the day”.

Premieres!

A lot of premiere for the very first edition of WCT, which will be held the 27th of July 2016 in Sandnes with the very first Blink Classics! As part of the Blink Festival event, the race joining Ålgård to Sandnes on a 62 km route will witness an exceptional start line! Who of Martin Sundby, Petter Northug, Dario Cologna or the long distance specialist as Eliassen, Dahl, Pedersen or Kjølstad will cross first the finish line? Many more skiers will fight for the victory! Several world cup athletes from Norway, Italy, Russia, Czech, Germany and Switzerland as well as the best long distance team as Santander, Leaseplan Go, Lager 157, United Bakeries and Team Pioneer Investments will join the battle.

More than 300 participants are expected on Blink Classics where amateurs will have the chance to rollerski the 62 or 17 km races amongst the world top cross-country skiing athletes. The registration are still opened, do not hesitate to join the party!

Do not miss the race!

Blink Classics 62km will start for both women and men at 18.05 in Ålgård.
The race will be broadcasted on live on NRK1 at 18.10 and 19.30 Thursday 27th of July!
