Joel Lybert – new CEO at Zander & Ingeström

Joel Lybert replaces Lars-Olof Larsson

After eighteen successful years, Lars-Olof Larsson leaves the job as CEO of Zander & Ingeström at his own request and is replaced by Joel Lybert.

The CEO shift is a very successful chess move. Lars-Olof continues in the company, but now with full focus on marketing and sales of environmentally friendly boilers to the global market. While Zander & Ingeström is already the leading supplier in China, which accounts for 90 percent of the world market, there are, as you know, many more countries on the map and the world’s need for electric steam and heating boilers is only growing.

Joel Lybert takes over the CEO assignment by virtue of a solid technical expertise paired with almost customized personal qualities to lead a company such as Zander & Ingeström.

Interview with Joel Lybert

–Can you tell us a little about your background?

–At bottom, I am a marine engineer, but since I had children early on I skipped the job at sea and started as an operating technician in the power plant industry. So in the late 90’s I came to work with Zander & Ingeström in a joint project, which led to me being employed by them as a service engineer. I enjoyed it a lot and stayed for three years.

–Where did you go then?

–I received an exciting offer from Strängnäs Energi, a municipal energy company that, by Swedish standards, was late in investing in district heating. The assignment was to build a full-scale system for district heating, both technically and commercially. There were ten intense and very educational years.

I started as a project manager and ended up as district heating manager. The time at Strängnäs Energi probably offered the best management training I can imagine.

After my time in Strängnäs, I worked for a few years as a consultant with thermal energy deals at the company Capital Cooling. The assignments were not only in Sweden, I also worked in other countries such as England and China.

–Then I was headhunted to Siemens, which needs no closer presentation with 400,000 employees and establishment in 200 countries. There, I started as sales manager at the Power & Gas division in Sweden and later became head of the service section of Siemens Digital Industry. In total, I worked for almost six years at that company, six very good and developing years.

–Why leave a managerial job at a company like Siemens?

–Because I got an attractive offer that fit well in time, namely becoming CEO of Zander & Ingeström. On the one hand, I had a purely emotional attachment to the company from my previous employment, and on the other, this is a company with a strong brand and a fantastic potential. And finally, I like the challenge of shouldering the overall responsibility as CEO and driving the company towards set goals. Or a little more joyfully expressed: It’ll be damn fun!
