Press release -

ARABIST AND ADVENTURER ALICE MORRISON LAUNCHES HER NEW BOOK “MY 1001 NIGHTS – TALES AND ADVENTURES FROM MOROCCO”

Arabist and Adventurer, Alice Morrison, is launching her new book of tales and adventure from Morocco, My 1001 Nights, at the British Embassy in Rabat on 30 October 2019. The book is a wonderfully evocative travelogue of the Morocco she knows and has come to love from five years of living in the country.

From the winding alleyways of Marrakech to the green palms of the desert oases and across the wilderness of the Atlas Mountains she takes us on a voyage of discovery. Her interactions with Moroccans are one of the joys of the book as her knowledge of Arabic and Tashlaheet allow her to get close to the people she meets. She also has lots of handy tips for the traveller – from how to eat a tagine politely to how to deal with a marriage proposal from an amorous taxi driver.

My 1001 Nights is a hugely entertaining and informative read for all those visiting or living in Morocco and was chosen by Wanderlust Magazine as one of its books of the month: “It’s in the cultural aspects that she shines and what follows is a heartfelt attempt to see, feel and experience local life.”

In 2017, Alice presented the BBC2 Series, Morocco to Timbuktu, in which she followed the ancient salt routes from Tangier to Timbuktu and which was a critical and audience hit.
