Triathletes from all over the world competing in Malmö this weekend

In the very south of Sweden, Malmö is now getting ready for the first European Cup in triathlon on Swedish soil. Europes’ best triathletes will compete Saturday August 6th in short distance sprint. No less than 40 women and 75 men will be swimming in Öresund and biking & running in the Western Harbour and the surroundings close to Turning Torso. The courses will be really fast and challenging.

Malmö is the third largest city in Sweden, located in the very south of Sweden and close to the continent. Malmö ETU Sprint Triathlon European Cup is the first European cup in Swedish Triathlon history.

The race course is fast and it will be a speedy journey for the athletes. The closeness to the open fields and Öresund with its shifting weather conditions can however contribute to making the course a challenging one. 

The competitors come from all over Europe (see lists below). The most merited triathletes from Sweden, Gabriel Sandör and Amanda Bohlin, have both competed on the World Triathlon Series this season.

– I am really looking forward to this race and have set quite high goals. I hope for the podium but since it’s been a while since I last raced, I would be happy to make it top 5. Also, it looks like a tough field which is great fun, says Amanda Bohlin.
