Having outdoor furniture takes some work; wind and rain mean they need to be dried, moved and sometimes covered. Since Hölja has a collapsible back that functions like a protective case, you can simply fold the back down when you leave the chair out on the balcony or decking. The chair is covered with an outdoor fabric in spun-dyed polyester from Sunbrella and has a frame with steel legs.

I’ve investigated the balcony and the garden as a potential extra room. The module EFF creates an architectonic space that could be used to make a private environment on the balcony or define a space outdoors. The EFF module consists of three parts: an arched frame with a flower box to store climbing plants, a solar-powered lamp and a folding table with space for four.

My project is about having a seasonless relationship to our furniture. I want to leave the temporary behind, and instead promote the flexible. In my process I saw a need for a low table for outside use, something that is currently missing on the market. This piece of furniture can be easily moved between places, both indoors and outdoors. It is an object in continual motion.

Room dividers have long been a way of defining space and have often had rectangular shapes. I want to move away from this standard and create a graphic room divider, which can add another character to spatial design. It can hide, reveal and accentuate places, indoors and outdoors. «Façade» becomes a mobile space that is defined by the user’s need for function and playfulness.

Lack of safety is a great concern in refugee camps. Better Shelter has a door that is lockable from the inside and the outside, which can be secured with a padlock. Thanks to the shelter’s modular design, the door can be placed either on the shelter’s long side or on the gable wall.
