We live in a time of change, where we see nations closing themselves off and nationalism growing stronger. And this despite the lesson from history that, in times like these, what we really need is more initiatives with the prefix pan-, inter- or uni-. But there is hope. Come and hear some leading diplomats and others share their stories of changemaking and initiatives taken to unite people across national, cultural or religious borders, in an ever changing digital world. Join us at our first event of 2014, hosted during the Stockholm International Initiative for Digital Diplomacy! This event is by invitation only, and the seats are limited. Foreign minister Carl Bildt to make TEDx debut in Stockholm next week

TEDxStockholm is calling for focus on a new diplomacy at the TEDxStockholmSalon #1/2014 event, taking place on 16 January in connection with the international meeting Stockholm Initiative for Digital Diplomacy (SIDD). Some renowned experts on diplomacy will share their ideas on topics as how the internet makes it easier to save the world or the power of ideas versus the limits of innovation.

On 16 January, TEDxStockholm held a salon event focusing on the ‘New Diplomacy’ in conjunction with the international Stockholm Initiative for Digital Diplomacy (SIDD) meeting, organised by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The event resulted in a series of articles in Wired UK, a post read by 170 000 people on Sina Weibo (China’s own Twitter) and tweets from people all over the world.

TEDxStockholmSalon #1/2014 - The New Diplomacy will take place on January 16. Some leading diplomats and others will share their ideas of changemaking and their thoughts about new initiatives to unite people across national, cultural or religious borders. This TEDxStockholmSalon is arranged in connection to the international SIDD conference, hosted by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
