The film also stars four time Golden Globe® nominee, Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation, Girl With A Pearl Earring, A Love Song For Bobby Long, Match Point); five-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams (Best Actress, American Hustle, 2013), Oscar® nominee Rooney Mara (Best Actress, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, 2012), and Olivia Wilde (Drinking Buddies), this thought-provoking exploration of the evolving nature – and risks – of intimacy in the modern world won the 2014 Academy Award® for Best Original Screenplay (Jonze). The film was nominated for four additional 2014 Academy Awards®, including Best Motion Picture of the Year.
Synopsis: Set in
the Los Angeles of the slight future, the story follows Theodore Twombly (Phoenix),
a complex, soulful man who makes his living writing touching, personal letters
for other people.
Heartbroken after the end of a long relationship, he becomes intrigued with a
new, advanced operating system, which promises to be an intuitive entity in its
own right, individual to each user. Upon initiating it, he is delighted to meet
"Samantha" (Johansson), a bright, female voice, who is insightful,
sensitive and surprisingly funny. As her needs and desires grow, in tandem with
his own, their friendship deepens into an eventual love for each other.
HER was produced by Megan Ellison (American Hustle), Vincent Landay (Adaptation), and Spike Jonze. Executive producers are Daniel Lupi, Natalie Farrey, and Chelsea Barnard.
The film has a run time of approximately 126 minutes.
