ECCO Sko A/S introduces a new Shop Concept

2004-08-04 13:17In recent years, ECCO Sko A/S has developed its shoe collections and its brand. In order to promote this development and provide the customers with an ideal experience when they buy ECCO shoes, the company has developed a completely new shop concept. This new concept is a developmental concept an evolution. This means that the concept will be constantly developed and adjusted to match the latest trends and ECCOs shoe collections as well as the situation in the individual shop. In this manner, the new concept is very long-lasting.
We meet the customers in the shop and must involve them there. Therefore, consistency and synergy between our brand and the individual shop are important. The new shop concept provides a stimulation of the senses and gives a clear impression to the customers as to what ECCO stands for and is able to offer, says ECCOs Retail Director Hans Hornemann.
The new shop concept focuses on the customer and the shoes. The shop layout clearly reflects this. Apart from giving a perfect presentation of ECCOs many shoes, the layout also creates an atmosphere emanating security and harmony. The new design also emanates excitement and surprise by means of a number of graphic effects.
The new concept involves the advantageous feature that it is possible to change the physical room without changing either the whole or the identity. The new shop concept has been developed in such a manner that it allows adjustment to local conditions to provide for incorporation of special values of the individual building half-timbered building, unique windows and oblique angles so that these form part of the shop concept.
It is important to us that the individual shop includes unique features but is also presented as part of a greater whole. This is crucial, as the consumers are tired of barren and uniform shops, which is quite understandable, Hans Hornemann says.
The new shop concept which has been developed in co-operation with the Danish company Juul Design will be tested until 1st September in the ECCO shop in Bredebro as well as in various Shop-in-Shops and Point Sales in Sweden. During this test period, customer and staff analysis as well as midway evaluations will be made focusing on for instance the purchasing rate. After that the concept will be expanded to comprise all of Europe with a total of 38 ECCO Shops, about 50 Shop-in-Shops and about 80 Points. These shops will be refurbished with the new concept by 1st February 2005. As of 1st January 2005, North America will follow.
