STOCKHOLM, MAY 13, 2009 - Five companies have been nominated for the Globe Award 2009 for outstanding sustainability reporting. The finalist will be presented on June 3rd, and awarded by H.R.H. Swedish Crown Princess Victoria, at a ceremony in the Winter Garden of Grand Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden.

The goal of the Globe Award is to discover and encourage innovators, researchers, cities and companies that are prominent in sustainable development. Globe Award highlights and rewards good cases and initiatives within four categories: Sustainability Innovation Award, Sustainability Research Award, Sustainable City Award and the Sustainability Reporting Award.

The Sustainability Reporting Award is given to companies in which sustainability reporting provides the key stakeholders with a clear understanding of the significance of sustainability impacts to key business activities, and which have taken strategic actions in response to these impacts.

Four jury groups, each with highly experienced and internationally recognized experts will assess the nominees. The jury is chaired by Lars-Olle Larsson, Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

- It is crucial for the future to motivate large companies and cities to adaptation, change and transparency, leading towards sustainable development. A Globe Award demonstrates pro-activity and best practice in the largest challenges we have ever faced, says Lars-Olle Larsson.

Chairman of the jury group for the Sustainability Reporting Award is Paul Druckman, Chairman Executive Board of The Prince's Accounting for Sustainability Project, UK.

- The Globe Sustainability Reporting Award gives organisations the chance to really show how they connect their sustainability performance to their mainstream strategy. So often it is the separate CSR report that is judged for awards in isolation. However stakeholder interest, especially in this economic cycle, has changed to require links to corporate performance against targets across the business, says Paul Druckman.

The nominated companies are:
CLP Holdings Limited, Hong Kong www.clpgroup.com
ICA AB, Sweden www.ica.se
Novo Nordisk, Denmark www.novonordisk.com
