Young, creative and climate-clever films have been submitted to the film competition REClimate throughout autumn. Young people in the Nordic countries have been invited to participate in the competition in the lead up to the United Nations Climate Summit in Copenhagen.

Now it is finally time for the voting to begin and for the jury to get to work. The winners will be
announced during an online ceremony on 8 December.
- The young people of today are the decision makers of tomorrow so we are very pleased with the high number of participating films, REClimate project coordinator Josefin Lindberg says.

The competition website www.reclimate.net opens for voting on 23 November at 16.00 and the
voting continues until 30 November. The five films that have received the most votes and three
films selected by the REClimate team will go through to the final.

In the final, a Nordic jury made up of artists, actors, climate experts and film personalities will
select the winner of REClimate 2009. Members of the jury include Finnish actor Samuli Vauramo, Swedish artist Timbuktu, Danish actor Cyron Melville, Norwegian actress Iram Haq and Icelandic filmmaker Dagur Karí.

The winners will be announced during an online awards ceremony on Tuesday 8
December at 11.00 CET. The ceremony is open for everyone to watch on the competition website www.reclimate.net and it will also be screened at the climate summit in Copenhagen.

The winning films will be screened for the first time and the winners will receive their prizes at the ClimateForum09 in Copenhagen on Tuesday 8 December at 20.30 CET,

The prizes include:
First prize - 2000 Euros
2:nd and 3rd prize a Sony Ericsson GreenHeart mobile phone
In addition, there will be some special prizes.

The REClimate film competition was initiated by the Nordic desk at the United Nations Regional Information Centre URNIC and Icelandic artists Björk and Sigur Rós during a Náttura concert in Iceland in 2008. The project has been developed in cooperation with the Federation of Norden Associations and dvoted.net with support from the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Scandinavian film institutes.
