How do we create what so many are talking about today – a sustainable development? A young Swedish team decided to find out. Sustainable Solutions Tour highlights existing, innovative solutions to the question in film format, to inspire the world to go from problems to solutions.
In April this year, Sustainable Solutions Tour took off from Stockholm, a project initiated by the communication portal for sustainability practices – Worldfavor, and the global network for social innovation and entrepreneurship – The Hub. The aim of the project is to move focus from problems and challenges of today’s world, to instead create a platform where actual solutions- created by organizations, companies and projects which are far ahead in addressing the challenges, are presented in order to inspire on how we can create a sustainable development.
The tour has this far been in five different European cities, where a number of innovative solutions were interviewed at each site. The team produces an inspirational short film of each solution, which are all gathered on the official website and spread through social media and presentations on events.
-That we need to change our behaviors and organizations to meet the world’s challenges, such as climate change and poverty is widely known today. But there’s a fundamental need for a forum of inspiration and for sharing best practices and innovations to reach this, across borders and continents. This is what we want to provide with Sustainable Solutions Tour, says Project Manager Frida Emilsson.
To make the tour possible, the project collaborates with some key supportive partners. As transportation partner, Volvo Cars contributes with their solution for sustainable living– sustainable mobility- and two fuel-efficient cars, a C30 and a V60, has transported the team through Europe.
Since the films of sustainable solutions can easily be followed online through the official website, as well as Twitter, Facebook, and Worldfavor.com, viewers are able to share their favorite solutions with friends and can also recommend best practices to companies and organizations.
-The key is to communicate these sustainable solutions in an easy and desirable way, adapted to our time. In this way, organizations as well individuals can discover good initiatives and recognize how they can adopt similar solutions in their organization or in their day to day life, says Andreas Liljendahl, founder of Worldfavor and producer in Sustainable Solutions Tour.
The project has taken its start in Europe and will reach other European cities during fall 2012. The vision is to be able to continue sharing sustainable solutions also from other continents in the future.
