INTRODUCING: CAPITAL ZOUK SINGAPORE UNVEILS FOURTH CONCEPT IN CLARKE QUAY

SINGAPORE, FEBRUARY 2017 - Singapore’s longest-running nightlife and music institution, Zouk Singapore, unveils Capital, the fourth concept at its new home set in the entertainment precinct of Clarke Quay on the 18th of February. Housed within the second floor of the Zouk complex, the intimate and charming setting of Capital is dedicated as a sanctuary for the discerning and established.

A new concept catered for working professionals and guests with a preference for finer experiences, Capital is designed with a multi-faceted layout to offer the flexibility of creating a different tempo of experiences through periods of the night. Sized at 640sqm and capable of accommodating up to 540 guests, Capital luxuriates a lounge-like atmosphere of modern cool and elegance with four zones – comprising an island bar, whisky bar, cigar room, and a plush seating area. The room also boasts its own DJ console flanked by VIP seating and a dance floor.

“We want all Zouk go-ers to enjoy themselves at the club and we do this by offering them a suite of experiences within a single complex. The reason behind this is to encourage exploration and growth of taste in music through different concepts, with each catering to different target groups and clubbing habits. I’m very excited about Capital, our brand-new concept which was conceptualised with the sophisticated and affluent guest in mind. While the space will present a very different climate from Zouk and Phuture, the DNA will still be deeply anchored in the music programming and beverage offerings that are unique to Zouk,” says Andrew Li, CEO of Zouk.

BEVERAGE OFFERINGS

Promising to cater to a crowd with discerning drinking habits, the beverage offerings at Capital features an extensive list of whiskys across a wide flavour profile spectrum, with 48 types sold by the glass starting from $16. Intended as a bar for both the connoisseurs while staying approachable for the occasional whisky drinker, a whisky flavour map is provided on the menu for ease of choice, allowing guests to make their selection based on what profile range the pour sits on. The menu also offers a range of rare, collector’s and limited edition bottles that include a $36,000 bottle of The Dalmore Constellation 1971 Cask 2.

PROGRAMMING

Envisioned as a networking enclave for working professionals to unwind over an extensive range of whiskies against a refined yet casual setting, Capital is set to bring forward a music programme that offers two distinct experiences across the night. The anchoring nights, Capital Thursdays, Capital Fridays and Capital Saturdays will be helmed by a routine of Zouk resident DJs, Jeremy Boon, Matthew and Andrew Tang.

On the earlier post-work hours, Capital will boast a lounge persona with a routine of live performances to play up the relaxed setting and ease guests into the mood for after-work repose. The space will feature a mix of performances curated by long-time resident, Jeremy Boon. Acts include live musicians, vocalists and local DJ collectives like Munir (Guitars), Kaye from Darker Than Wax (Saxophone), Buirski (Guitars) & Aynsley Green (Keyboards) and more.

As the space edges closer to the after-hours, Capital will transition to a club environment with a music programme that carry more upbeat tunes and beats. Guests can expect to raise their spirits to an open format of tunes spanning across commercial, Hip Hop, R&B and the classic, familiar sounds for guests to groove and vibe to under the illuminated ceiling.

Capital opens to public from Saturday, 18 February, and is set to launch with a ‘Garden of Wonders’ party on Friday, 24 February featuring headline guest performer, Gentle Bones (set at 10.30PM). Doors will open to public at 10.00PM on 24 February, cover charge applies.

Zouk is a 25 year-old music-driven entertainment institution that provides a world-class clubbing experience by pushing the boundaries of electronic dance music and bringing in a constant flow of internationally renowned DJs such as Hardwell, Tiesto and Disclosure just to name a few.

Accessed through a dramatically lit and sculptural tunnel as a prequel to the scene ahead, Zouk remains as the largest outlet and the key plaza of the entire complex. Decked with two floors and flanked with three independent bars over three corners, Zouk will continue to be the main stage for electronic dance music and the dedicated arena for headline acts.
