Marketing Institute of Singapore Training Centre introduces new programmes

18 July 2014, Marketing Institute of Singapore Training Centre (MIS Training Centre) launched four new proprietary programmes which will be offered on both part-time and full-time basis. There is also a syllabus revamp for Certificate in Sales & Marketing to meet the ever-changing landscape in Sales & Marketing.  

The four new programmes, with the first intake in September 2014, aim to attract individuals and working professionals with interest to upgrade their knowledge and skills in the arena of Sales & Marketing, Business Management and Retailing. These programmes also provide the foundation knowledge for those who are considering mid-career switch but not armed with marketing and business management background. The newly launched programmes include – Certificate in Retailing, Diploma in Business, Advanced Diploma in Marketing Management and Advanced Diploma in Business Management. 

Upon completion of Advanced Diploma programme with MIS Training Centre, students will only require one year to graduate with a related Bachelor programmes with MIS Training Centre’s University partners.  The total duration required from Certificate to Bachelor programme only take a minimum of two years and 6 months. 

Besides quality education, students of MIS Training Centre also benefit from networking opportunities and marketing guru talks organised by MIS membership services. These events created unique platforms for students to acquire and exchange knowledge from marketing and business leaders.

New programmes: 

Certificate in Retailing aims to equip students with the basic knowledge and skills needed at the frontline work environment and also provides an opportunity for career advancement in the Retail industry.

The Diploma in Business aims to provide students with a holistic view of the business process and to equip them with the knowledge and skills in the professional practices of business operations. 

Advanced Diploma in Marketing Management aims to provide students with a managerial orientation towards marketing. It covers all relevant topics that an informed marketing professional needs to know, as well as providing insights to issues faced in strategic, tactical and administrative marketing.

Advanced Diploma in Business Management aims to provide students with a managerial orientation towards business management.  Students will have a deeper understanding of the various functional areas of business management as well as insights to issues faced in strategic, tactical and administrative management.

The Marketing Institute of Singapore Training Centre is the training arm of Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS), which was founded in 1973. To date, the Institute has nurtured numerous students, sales and marketing practitioners and provided networking opportunities for thousands of its members.

Marketing Institute of Singapore makes a leap to China

Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS) is pleased to announce the opening of its first overseas office in China.

MIS has a 41-year history as the national body of sales and marketing and set up Marketing Institute of Singapore Training Centre (MIS Training Centre) in 1993 as a private education institute offering diploma and degree courses.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed today at the Opening Ceremony held today in Beijing to formalise the collaboration framework between MIS/ MIS Training Centre and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

“China is fast becoming the second largest consumer market with huge purchasing power. This is the perfect time for MIS to leverage on the growth and connect with Chinese marketers. They are the aspiring marketers of tomorrow”, said Mr Roger Wang, President of MIS.

With this MOU, CCPIT will tap onto Singapore’s position as a regional marketing hub and at the same time partner with MIS to provide quality education, training and marketing industry related events for Chinese marketers. MIS will promote the sharing of experience and knowledge between Singaporean and Chinese marketers.

“As Singapore and China are members of Asia Marketing Federation (AMF), we believe that the MOU will further strengthen the collaboration between the two countries so as to create stronger presence in the ASEAN region and beyond. Now, a marketer in China can become a MIS member with this MOU”, said Mr Wang.

A MIS China Advisory board will be appointed to inject a Chinese perspective and approach to MIS’ existing multi-faceted ways in creating and connecting marketers.

Harnessing on the social media bandwagon, the Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS) has specially invited Mr Cheo Ming Shen, CEO & Co-founder of Nuffnang.com for a dialogue session with members and fellow marketers on 25 July 2013.  The session is part of the MIS Marketing Guru Talk series to share with the industry on real life insights, perspectives and experiences of Marketing Gurus!   

During the session, Mr Cheo Ming Shen, also known as Ming to many, will be sharing The Inside story behind his runway success in the blog advertising community, how he managed to work with famous bloggers such as Xiaxue and his perspective and insights in the area of digital marketing, e-commerce and social media.

The Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS) is honoured to have the CEO of Scoot™, Mr Campbell Wilson, the man with the Scootitude, for an interactive and insightful discussion during the upcoming MIS Marketing Guru Talk on Thursday, 4 July 2013.

Mr Campbell Wilson was appointed the founding member of the airline on 18 July 2011, prior to his appointment with Scoot™, he worked for SIA group for more than 15 years.

Together with Mr Campbell Wilson, Ms Sharon Koh, Marketing & Communications Manager, will be sharing the stories of Scoot, its brand differentiation from other low cost carriers and how they lead this young and vibrant airline to where it is today within such as short time span. As successful marketers, they will also be passing on some marketing tips and suggestions to the avid marketers. There were a lot of talking about the term “Scootitude’’, what it really is and how is it linked to the values and expectations of the airline. The Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS) has been appointed as an official training partner to provide Google AdWords™ and Google Analytics™ workshops in Singapore by Google™. Open to employees of agencies enroled in the Google Engage programme as well as members of the public, the Google AdWords and Google Analytics workshops will be conducted over two and three days respectively commencing September 2012.

Google AdWords 101 & 201 is a comprehensive workshop that covers topics from basic setup and configuration, to keyword list optimisation and conversion optimisation. Google Analytics 101, 201 and 301 is a comprehensive web analytics workshop that covers topics from basic setup and configuration, to advanced tracking features.

“We are pleased to be appointed as one of Google’s training partners providing the Google AdWords and Google Analytics workshops inSingapore. As the national body for sales and marketing, we hope to play a part in boosting the use of SEM among the local agencies and businesses, which will in turn increase the visibility of their businesses and clients globally,” said Mr Suresh Punjabi, Executive Director of the Marketing Institute of Singapore.

The pilot run of the Google Analytics workshop conducted by MIS will take place on 11 to 13 September 2012 and the Google AdWords workshop will commence on 17 and 18 September 2012. Participants registering up for both workshops enjoy a 10% discount in course fees.

Keynoted by Julian Persaud, Managing Director of Google Southeast Asia and Stephen Dolan, Commercial Director of Facebook, a total of 24 industry experts will be addressing the topic of “Best Practices for Marketing Excellence – Smartest Ideas and Techniques in Practice Today” during the two‐day Congress.
