Gentle Reminder: 26 February 2015 NBAS Breakfast Seminar with Gudmund Hernes at Fullerton Hotel

Have you ever thought of why people do not change their minds? Why do facts not convince? Why are people reluctant to change their opinions? For example, it is well documented that the climate is changing, yet large segments of the public as well as business and political elites remain unpersuaded. Indeed, the most informed and articulate may be least receptive to contrary evidence. Why this resistance to attitude change? Why the often hostile rifts, not just on what should be done, but also on what is going on? Why are the most informed and most articulate often least receptive to contrary evidence?

Join our Breakfast Seminar to hear Gudmund Hernes’ interesting theories around these questions! The talk will encompass and be of relevance for business leaders as we explore why strong opinions and preconceptions can be difficult to change on both individual and organisational levels.

Gudmund Hernes is a researcher at the Fafo Institute in Oslo, and Professor II at BI Norwegian School of Management. He is a former Minister of Education and Research (1990-95), and Minister of Health (1995-97) in Norway. He was the Director of UNESCO's International Institute of Educational Planning in Paris, and UNESCO's Coordinator on HIV/AIDS from 1999-2005.
