To continue the acceleration of the power cable change currently undertaken by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SMRT, some service changes will take place on the Circle Line (CCL) on two Sunday mornings in June 2013.
On Sundays 9 and 23 June, both Botanic Gardens and Farrer Road stations will operate with a single platform from 6 to 10 am. Trains going in either direction will stop at the same platform, as the other side is closed to enable cable change works.
During these periods, there will be signs put up at the affected stations to inform passengers of the change in the platform arrangements. At the same time, we will be making announcements at the stations and in the trains, to alert passengers of the diversions. We will also deploy some of our staff to guide passengers on the ground.
Due to this diversion, passengers travelling through the stretch between Caldecott and Holland Village stations should make provisions for an additional 15 minutes in their travelling times. We ask that passengers adjust their travelling times accordingly.
Changing the power cable on the CCL will minimise potential power outage, and boost the reliability of the system. This cable replacement programme started in mid-January with the stations along the Dhoby Ghaut and Stadium stretch.
Since then, we have accelerated the works, and are expected to complete the cable replacement at all 30 stations by December 2013. This is earlier than the 18 month-timeline earlier announced.
