One of the best uses of
the app is knowing where the nanny is with the children. With increased work
hours or lack of childcare experience for many parents, according to the International Nanny Association, as many as 1
million nannies are working in the United States.
Parents are forced to leave their children in the care of a trained caregiver/stranger. That needs an immense amount of trust in an outsider to provide optimum care without any oversight. It is not uncommon for nannies to abandon their posts during the day or take their wards on personal errands outside the safety and comfort of the home.
There are plenty of reasons to worry about the location and safety of those you care about most. Hence, Folr can be installed on any mobile device (smartphone or tablet) to unobtrusively update users on the locations of the most important people in their lives.
"As a parent of a young child, I've often wondered how I can be sure he is safe at home with the domestic helper," says Steven Ellis, CEO and Co-Founder of Folr. "By combining the ever-present smartphone and location-sharing, you can monitor the location of your family, friends or nannies in a safe, discreet and convenient way."
Folr is targeted at concerned users who would want to know where their babies are with the nanny, where their teenagers are after school, where their spouse goes during a business trip or where their friends were out and about.
Folr only takes 3 easy steps to start:
2nd, users can select whom they wish to follow from their phones' contacts.
3rd, Folr will send that person a request. When they accept, they will be prompted to download Folr to be a user as well.
This app will be especially important during times of need or distress. Users can see from the history to know where the followed was and predict where they could be. This "History" function will be $29.99 USD per year (less than $2.50 USD per month), to be reassured on the path of the followed.
Also, another distinctive offering by Folr is ensuring privacy for users and those they follow. First, Folr will not have any advertising. Second, Folr will not sell user data to 3rd parties. Third and lastly, Folr allows the followed to set the days-of-week and the hours-of-day that their device can be tracked. They can also, at any point, deactivate the tracking.
"Folr is unique in location-sharing as it provides options in history and privacy. The app gives a complete timeline of the device location," says Ellis. "Also, users get complete autonomy over when he or she is tracked so when the nanny is off-duty, she is off the radar."
Folr also has many practical uses for institutional and social purposes. School administrators can easily handle school's attendance taking, discipline and on-campus liability. Also, on a night out, party revellers will be able to see which of their friends are also unwinding nearby.
