Nemertes Research Finds ShoreTel Has Lowest First-Year IP Telephony Costs Amongst Seven Leading Vendors

ShoreTel® (NASDAQ: SHOR), the leading provider of brilliantly simple phone systems and unified communications (UC) solutions, delivers the lowest first-year IP telephony costs for all size deployments against six competitors, according to a recent Nemertes Research report.

Nemertes conducted a study of nearly 200 organisations to gather real-world cost data for seven leading IP telephony and UC vendors. The companies surveyed represented a range of industries and sizes, primarily in North America, and responses were used to develop a first-year TCO analysis of on-premises, cloud and hybrid deployments. The industry research shows ShoreTel ranks the lowest in first-year telephony costs (for both up-front and ongoing investments) for all-sized company deployments at US$669 per endpoint, compared against the median of US$935 across all vendors in the study.

Nemertes also considered the size and complexity of the roll-out in the report. For installations greater than 350 endpoints, ShoreTel’s first-year overall costs are the lowest at US$411 per endpoint, compared to a median of US$706 across all vendors. The report also found ShoreTel systems require lower staffing levels than other vendors.

“IT leaders must develop solid TCO models to secure funding for their projects. But uncovering real-world costs, particularly for the operational side, is challenging, if not impossible, until they actually roll out the technology,” says Robin Gareiss, President and Founder at Nemertes Research. “In this research, IT professionals shared their actual costs for IP telephony and UC for seven vendors. ShoreTel came out the most affordable in first-year costs when we evaluated all companies, all sizes, as well as those with more than 350 end units, earning the vendor a place on the short list for organisations evaluating the technology.”
