HRH Princess Ubolratana Mahidol officially opened the Thailand Pavilion in her capacity as tourism ambassador and representative of the people and of the Royal Thai Government, inviting people from all over the world to Thailand.

On this occasion, HRH Princess Ubolratana Mahidol had the opportunity to meet representatives of the UK’s tourism industry, including local travel agents and hotel operators. HRH Princess Ubolratana Mahidol encouraged these representatives that Thailand is still open for tourism and is warmly welcoming visitors from around the world, especially in December, when all Thais will celebrate the 7th cycle, or 84th birthday anniversary of the King of Thailand.

The United Kingdom is one of Thailand most important markets. During the first nine months of 2011, international tourist arrivals to Thailand reached 14.4 million. Almost 635,000 of these arrivals were from the UK and Ireland, a 7% increase over the same period last year, with 67% being repeat visitors.
