THAI Launched Direct Flights from Copenhagen-Phuket and Assures Travel During Flood

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) announces the launch of direct flights from Copenhagen to Phuket, utilizing the Boeing 747-400 aircraft, three times per week, to assure travel to destination not affected by the flooding in certain areas of Thailand.
Mr. Pandit Chanapai, THAI Executive Vice President of Commercial, said, “From 11 November 2011, THAI is pleased to offer the first-ever direct flights from Copenhagen to Phuket. Flight TG953, arrived Phuket on 12 November 2011 at 13.20 hour, was welcomed by  Mr. Tri Augkaradacha, Governor of Phuket,  Mr. Suraphon  Svetasreni, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mr. Pricha Nawongs, THAI’s General Manager for Scandivanvia (except Sweden), Iceland, Latvia and Mr. Prasert Tanhansa,THAI’s Phuket District Sales Manager. The number of passengers traveling on this flight is 88 percent of the total cabin capacity, which shows that passengers are still traveling from Scandinavia straight into Phuket.”
For the first time, THAI is offering  flight operations on the route Copenhagen – Phuket to accommodate the high passenger demand on this route as well as provide additional choice of travel from Scandinavia straight to Phuket, one of the most popular tourist destination in Thailand.
Flight  TG953 is a 10-hour, 35-minute flight, departing Copenhagen on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 20.45 hours and arriving in Phuket at 13.20 hours the following day, utilizing Boeing 747-400 aircraft.  On the return, passengers  may take any of THAI’s daily flights from Phuket to Bangkok and connect on flights to Copenhagen via Suvarnabhumi Airport.

According to the Winter Traffic Program, starting from 30 October 2011, THAI operates daily flights between Bangkok to Copenhagen, with flight TG950 departing Bangkok 00.50 hours and arriving in Copenhagen on the same day at 06.35 hours. On the return flight TG951 departing Copenhagen 14.00 hours and arriving in Bangkok 06.30 hours the next day.
From 11 November 2011, THAI will operate three additional flights per week on the route Bangkok to Copenhagen, with flight TG952 departing Bangkok on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 13.00 hours and arriving in Copenhagen on the same day at 18.45 hours, utilizing Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
In addition, THAI operates daily inbound flights to Phuket from other destinations, including Hong Kong – Phuket, Seoul – Phuket, Perth – Phuket. The percentage of passengers booked on these flights in December 2011 are 87, 80 and 65 respectively. The high number of passengers on these routes are resulted from the encouragement and assurances from THAI’s overseas offices that although some outer areas of Bangkok are currently affected by the floods, major  parts throughout Thailand are not affected including Phuket.
