The Vines notches up 25 years in Swan Valley

Press Release   •   Sep 12, 2014 11:34 SGT

September 12th, 2014: Tuesday 16th September 2014, marks a quarter of a century of golf and relaxation in the Swan Valley near Perth for the iconic Golf Club, The Vines Resort and Country Club.

Although it is their anniversary, you get the gifts, and to celebrate, they are offering 25% off all accommodation on all hotel room types, golf (complimentary buggy on the lakes course worth $25), 25% off purchases made in the Pro shop for clothing and shoes, 25% off buffet breakfast in Muscats, plus 25% off Swedish or aromatherapy massages at Keishi Day Spa

This offer is only available to use until September 30th, 2014, but accommodation, golf and spa must be booked on the day of the actual anniversary, 16th September 2014.

The golf courses were designed by Course architects Graham Marsh and Ross Watson and first opened for members to play on this day in 1989 on 27 holes.

When stage one was opened by the then WA Premier, Peter Dowding, the Club boasted 90 members, and today it has 1200 members, with reciprocal agreements with over 35 Clubs in Australia and worldwide.

The Novotel hotel component of the three stage integrated Resort opened its doors fully in November 1996 and the final 9 holes completing the 36 hole golf course.

Some twenty original foundation Members, who joined in 1989 are still playing the courses, and John Hogan and Harvey Deegan commented that “The 25 years has passed too quickly.”

Two staff members who were employed at the opening, are still employed at the resort. Ruben Rajamoney in the kitchen & Daryl Ritchie on the golf course, have well and truly earned their stripes.

The Vines Resort is currently undertaking a $4 million, three stage renovation throughout the Novotel hotel and its facilities.

Stage one is now complete and 25 hotel rooms have been completed stripped back and renovated so far, with all the modern in-room amenities a modern traveler expects. New gleaming tiles, soft furnishings, carpets, furniture, pod coffee machines, flat screen TV’s funky new mini bar fridges and in a palette of soothing colours from mother nature. This is soon to be joined by major upgrades to the Reception area, that follows the soft refurb of the function rooms and Muscats Restaurant.

Stage two will be completed in mid January with another block of rooms finished, and the final stage is expected to be complete by the end of winter 2016.

The Vines Resort boasts one of the richest international tournament histories in Australia, hosting the Heineken Classic 1993 – 2001, Johnnie Walker Classic 2006 & 2009 and the Lexus Cup 2007, and many international golf stars such as Norman, Els, Scott, Staddler - just to name a few.
