Tsui Wah Opens in Singapore with Classic Hong Kong Flavours, Adding Vibrancy to the Local Food Scene

Singapore, June 2018 - Tsui Wah (翠華), the Hong Kong-styled “Cha Chaan Teng” (港式茶餐廳), opened its doors on Friday, 15 June 2018, bringing classic Hong Kong dishes freshly made with high quality ingredients to Singapore. Centrally located at Clarke Quay, the contemporary-styled restaurant Tsui Wah Clarke Quay is Tsui Wah’s first in South-east Asia, with over 140 indoor and alfresco dining seats. Diners can enjoy signature favourites from the original Tsui Wah menu in Hong Kong, with more dishes to be progressively introduced.

Synonymous today with Hong Kong delicacies of great quality at great value, Tsui Wah is one of the biggest and most successful “Cha Chaan Teng” chains. Founded in Hong Kong in 1967, Tsui Wah’s 60 outlets now span Hong Kong, Macau, the People’s Republic of China (“PRC”), and Singapore. Tsui Wah in Singapore is a franchise by Vista F&B Services Pte. Ltd., a joint venture between Tsui Wah Holdings Limited and Jumbo Group Ltd.

“Jumbo believes in bonding people through food. Bringing the iconic Tsui Wah brand to Singapore marks another new step to continually enrich Singapore's food culture. Singaporeans will be able to enjoy a greater variety of authentic and high quality Hong Kong casual dining favourites right here at home,” said Mr Ang Kiam Meng (黄建銘), Jumbo Group CEO.

Mr Peter Pang (彭烱豪), CEO of Tsui Wah Holdings Limited, added, “We are excited to embark on this new phase of growth with our like-minded partner JUMBO, who share similar values and a strong belief in quality food and service. We believe that local and tourist diners will enjoy the freshness and quality of our food, as we strive to present classic flavours and uphold our traditional Hong Kong culinary culture here. For example, the menu items will follow the original Hong Kong recipes as closely as possible.”

Quality and Authenticity at the Heart of Tsui Wah’s Culinary Culture

Tsui Wah Clarke Quay will serve lunch, tea and dinner daily, from 11am to 11pm. Signature items include the Milk Tea, Crispy Bun with Condensed Milk, Hong Kong Noodle dishes and the Curry Series. (Refer to the Media Factsheet for selected menu highlights for Singapore). More signature items will be announced progressively.

Diners can enjoy classic Hong Kong flavours with dishes that follow the original Tsui Wah recipes, some of which date back to the 1960s. Particular ingredients, such as the tea leaves for the Iced/Hot Milk Tea, will be imported directly from Tsui Wah Hong Kong. Ingredients sourced locally are subject to stringent selection to maintain Tsui Wah’s culinary standards as closely as possible.

A team of chefs from Tsui Wah Hong Kong have also been stationed in Singapore to train the local staff. Some will remain here permanently to have a hand in food preparation and ensure a consistent delivery of quality and freshness.

Reflecting a common practice in “Cha Chaan Teng” restaurants, diners will be encouraged to share tables in the event that the restaurant is full.

To cater to local demands, Tsui Wah Clarke Quay will introduce set menus for lunch, tea and dinner. A small selection of alcoholic beverages will also be available at Tsui Wah Clarke Quay.
